Cornwall is gearing up for an extraordinary celebration of its Armed Forces, set to take place on June 2nd at the picturesque Lamoureux Park. This event promises to be a day filled with entertainment, excitement, and appreciation for our dedicated military personnel.
To kick off the celebration, there will be a friendly game of Lacrosse at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena (Turtle Dome) featuring members from the military and Akwesasne communities, bringing the two closer together through sport.
The first annual Cornwall Armed Forces Day will showcase performances by acclaimed singers: John McIntosh, Kevin Rivette, and Mike McAnany, delivering a captivating blend of music to honour our servicemen and women. Their talents will undoubtedly add a special touch to this commemorative occasion.
In addition to the musical highlights, attendees will have the unique opportunity to witness military assets, speak with local service members, veterans, Cadets, and a special visit from Astra and Juno! This interactive experience will allow visitors to gain insight into the vital role our armed forces play in safeguarding our nation.
“We are thrilled to host the Cornwall Armed Forces Day in recognition of the incredible dedication and sacrifice of our armed forces,” said Chairperson and CFSACO Honorary Colonel Suzanne Farag. “This event is a chance for our community to come together, celebrate, and show our heartfelt gratitude to those who serve our country.”
The Cornwall Armed Forces Day, proudly sponsored by BMO with the support of the RCAF Foundation, will feature family-friendly activities, food vendors, and engagement with military personnel. It promises to be a day of unity and pride for Cornwall and its residents.
